Douglas Fir Mahogany is short grained relative to fir. Like fir, it patinas to a deeper red tone over time. Mahogany may be polished to a high luster, if desired. Mahogany is a dense hardwood with a hardness measure comparable to fir (Douglas Fir 710 lbs, Genuine Mahogany 800 lbs**). Dent resistance with furniture-grade finish properties. Tightly interwoven grain resists splintering, accepts detailed profiling and holds fasteners solidly. Like Douglas Fir, Mahogany is dimensionally stable.
